Kids Say the Darndest Things
My friend asked me to videotape his daughter’s birthday party this afternoon. Contrary to what the video (click the photo) might suggest, the kids were well-behaved and I had a nice time. The children, who are first graders, even treated me to these gems:
Child A: Are you Korean or a foreigner?
Me: What do I look like?
Child A: You look Korean.
(If you’ve ever seen me, you’d know how funny that comment is.)
Child B: What’s your name?
Me: My name is Scott.
Child C: What’s your Korean name?
Me: My Korean name is Seo Jin-woo.
Child B (to the other children): Hey! His real name is Seo Jin-woo!
I also noticed that Korean children start “V-ing” at a very early age.

the video reminded me of how big the apartments can be outside of seoul. the kids also look healthier than the ones i see around here.
i once asked a class what the whole V thing was about, and was told by a late 30s-ish student that V stood for victim. he also pointed out that the whole trend seems to have started with Koreans in their late teens and early twenties.

Did you film the MILF after-party, too?
There is one mom that looks good. She’s wearing jeans and a white belt. She crosses the room from left to right, in the scene before “준아” flashes her “V.”
Any footage of the mom flashing her “V” would be appreciated.

Jonathan,
The air in Yeosu is much cleaner than Seoul’s, which might have something to do with the children looking healthier.
Whitey,
She was indeed attractive, but since I was filming my friend’s daughter’s birthday party those sort of thoughts didn’t cross my mind.

I got a “playlist format not recognized” or some such message when I tried to access the video… I blame my ancient Mac (OS 10.3.9), which is probably in cahoots with my Firefox browser.
Ah, dingleberries. Will try to see this at work tomorrow.

It’s an mpeg file, so I think it should work with Macs. Hmm. I’ll try to get to the bottom of this. Plus, I’ve noticed some glitches with the Firefox browser. You have to watch the video on full screen to fix them. I’m not sure how to fix that.

it works for my G4 powerbook in safari. (but i’m running tiger, so there may in lie the difference.) you might have to get something called filpformac.

Saw the video while at the office. Cute kiddies. Kids can be wonderful, especially with ketchup.
